Letran Knights' Franz Dysam and Wife Shot

(ERRATUM: As has been written below, I referred to the unnamed female companion of Dysam as his wife. However, succeeding reports on the incident have confirmed that the woman who was fatally shot was actually Dysam's girlfriend.)


Sad day for basketball fans, especially of the Letran Knights.

Franz Dysam and his wife were fired upon early evening Saturday by riding-in-tandem gunmen near the intersection of N. Domingo St. and Araneta Avenue. According to reports, the couple were shot at a few minutes after Letran Knights vs Lyceum Pirates game at The Arena in San Juan.

"Shot by riding in tandem just after the game. Was hit in the chest by .45 cal. -fr vic #PrayForFranzDysam & his wife" was a tweet from Letran College. Fr. Vic is Fr. Vic Calvo, OP, the school's athletic director. Just a few minutes after, another tweet from the same confirmed Dysam's wife has died. The wife has sustained a single gunshot wound  according to initial reports while the Letran point guard has been shot in the chest . He and his wife were initially rushed to nearby San Juan Medical Center where the wife was pronounced dead. Dysam was later on transferred to the University of Santo Tomas Hospital for further treatment. 

Police investigators say  love triangle could be a motive behind the shooting.
